Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latulipe fails to land the takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Latulipe.
Shields wants to control but Latulipe postures up.
Shields tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shields is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Latulipe asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Shields throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Shields is looking for a sweep.
Shields manages to get back to half guard.

Latulipe postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Shields to stand up.
Latulipe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shields pinned against the cage. Shields gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Shields checks the leg kick nicely there.
Shields slips a jab and a cross from Latulipe.

so Latulipe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Latulipe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Shields pulls Latulipe in to control the position.

Shields is breathing heavily.

Latulipe wants to control from the top but Shields keeps moving.

Latulipe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shields kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Shields controls Latulipe momentarily but Latulipe frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing.
Latulipe throws a big right hand that misses.

Latulipe postures up in Shields's guard and throws a big left but Shields blocks it.
Shields keeping moving, preventing Latulipe from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shields can't keep his opponent in guard - Latulipe advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shields wants to get back to full guard.
Latulipe wants to control but Shields is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gonzo Latulipe.

Shields is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Latulipe frees his head nicely. Oh but Shields has switched to an armbar! Latulipe is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
