PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liha Pulla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jabba Hutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pulla kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Arvo Pärt - De Profundis. Jabba Hutt will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulla looks to land a right hand but Hutt moved out of range.
Pulla throws a body punch but Hutt moves out of range.
Hutt shoots in for a double leg but Pulla sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pulla misses with a two punch combination.
Pulla tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hutt was well out of range. Poor timing from Pulla.
Pulla tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pulla throws a shot to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hutt.
Hutt dives in and grabs Pulla's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pulla pushes down on Hutt's head and hops out.
Liha Pulla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jabba Hutt.
Hutt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pulla fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hutt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Liha Pulla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pulla throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pulla digs a good body shot into Hutt's ribs.
Pulla lands a nice hook to Hutt's body. Hutt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hutt ducks under a wild hook from Pulla.
Hutt takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hutt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hutt avoids the body shot from Pulla.
Hutt is trying desperately to land a takedown but Pulla is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hutt.
Pulla bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hutt's head backwards.

Hutt shoots in for a takedown but Pulla shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pulla swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hutt.
Pulla lands with a nice combination. Hutt backs away looking to recover.
Pulla throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Donk. Hutt catches Pulla right on the button with a cross.
Pulla checks a low kick from Hutt.
Pulla swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pulla throws a body punch but Hutt moves out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pulla looks to land a combination but Hutt avoids it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hutt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pulla.

and Hutt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pulla paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Hutt counters with a shoot takedown. Pulla fights it but they end up in guard.
Hutt trying to control the position from guard on top but Pulla is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hutt throws and elbow that misses. Pulla uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hutt's guard. Nice move by Pulla!
Hutt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hutt had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pulla defends it easily.
Pulla is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hutt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hutt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hutt is looking for a triangle but Pulla pushes his legs off easily.
Hutt wants to sweep here but Pulla controlling him for the moment.

Pulla got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hutt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pulla has managed to get both his arms back between Hutt's legs - danger averted.

Hutt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hutt trying to keep a closed guard but Pulla is proving a slippery customer.
Pulla might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hutt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pulla doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pulla manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hutt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pulla manages to get himself to full guard.
Pulla is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hutt can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pulla can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hutt controls the pace.
Pulla looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Hutt postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Hutt misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hutt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pulla, who protects the arm well.
The ground and pound from Hutt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hutt is working to tighten is grip on Pulla's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pulla has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hutt is really squeezing tight and eventually Pulla passes out! Hutt breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
