The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Suarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
micheals leaves Suarez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Suarez tries to score a power double leg takedown but micheals sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Suarez somewhat.
Suarez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around micheals's waist but micheals gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Suarez off to one side.
daniel micheals has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Suarez.
micheals scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Suarez looks gassed!
micheals throws a series of strikes that have Suarez backpedaling.
micheals lands a head kick. Suarez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Ryan Suarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
micheals lands with a nice body kick.
Suarez takes a head kick and keeps coming.
micheals scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

A solid leg kick lands there for micheals.
A head kick from micheals lands but Suarez takes it in his stride.

Suarez seems to have recovered his senses.

Suarez misses with a takedown attempt - micheals sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

micheals throws a series of strikes that have Suarez backpedaling.
Suarez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has micheals pinned against the cage. micheals gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Suarez is trying desperately to land a takedown but micheals is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Suarez.

micheals tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Suarez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. micheals sprawls well initially but Suarez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suarez is thwarting micheals's attempts to control the position.
Suarez is pressing down on micheals's thigh, looking to free his foot. micheals is holding on for now.

Suarez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Suarez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But micheals has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from micheals!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells micheals's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

micheals wants to stand but Suarez is controlling his posture from full guard.

Suarez pushes a forearm under micheals's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, micheals is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
