The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sewell gets a takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sewell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Howard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sewell.

Howard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Howard has closed the distance and engaged Sewell in a clinch.
Sewell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Howard lands a nice uppercut.
Howard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Sewell works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Howard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howard is looking to control Sewell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Howard avoid being mounted?
Sewell perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Howard lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Sewell blocks a head kick by Howard.
Sewell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Howard counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Sewell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sewell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Howard's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Howard lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sewell will feel that in the morning.
Sewell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Howard lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Howard moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Howard thuds his shin into the meat of Sewell's side.
Howard lands with a good body shot.
Howard cracks the inside of Sewell's front leg.
Howard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
