The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asheed tries to clinch but Alvarez is having none of it.

Asheed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground.

Alvarez has hold of Asheed's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Asheed manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Alvarez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Asheed manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Alvarez throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Asheed works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Alvarez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Asheed has managed to free his arm - good work.
Asheed could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Asheed is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Alvarez dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Alvarez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Asheed avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Alvarez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oh Asheed is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Alvarez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Asheed defend it? Alvarez steps over the head and cranks it - Asheed is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Alvarez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miguel Alvarez!
