Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Swordish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marshall Law!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Swordish!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swordish shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Law pinned against the cage. Law gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Law slips a jab from Swordish.
Law with a lazy takedown attempt

and Swordish counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Law has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Swordish off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Law stuffs the takedown.

Law moves into the clinch.
Swordish lands with a light punch inside.

Swordish pulls guard successfully.
Law knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Swordish on the ground.
Law lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Law wants to control from the top but Swordish keeps moving.
Law not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Law trying to control but Swordish is working from the bottom.
Law wants to stand but Swordish is controlling his posture from full guard.
Swordish is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Swordish blocks the strikes from Law.
Law trying to hold on to Swordish's head to control him but Swordish postures up.
Swordish tries to pass the half guard into mount. Law knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Swordish stops Law from getting back to his feet.
Swordish trying to pass the guard but Law defending well.
Swordish passes to full mount!

Swordish goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Law is on top in guard.
Law wants to control from the top but Swordish keeps moving.
Law has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Swordish looking to hit a scissor sweep but Law is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Law trying to control but Swordish is working from the bottom.

Law has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Swordish is proving hard to escape from.
Law controls from within his opponent's guard.
Swordish keeping moving, preventing Law from controlling successfully.

That's time! Law's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Swordish shoots in for a takedown but Law shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Law shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Swordish manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Swordish wants to sweep but no luck.

Law stands up and waves to Swordish to follow him.
Law doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Swordish counters with a single leg into guard. Law didn't expect that.
Swordish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Law is keeping the position for now.

Swordishis looking to pass into half guard but Law pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Law is in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swordish looking for a sweep. Not yet Swordish, not yet.
Swordish manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Law manages to get himself to full guard.
Law is looking to stand up but Swordish isn't so interested in that idea.
Swordish tries to free his leg and advance position but Law is retaining full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Law looking to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Swordish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Law is keeping the position for now.
Swordish stands and throws Law's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Swordish tries to advance to mount but can't.
Law is trying to control Swordish's posture but Swordish avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Law with a poor takedown

and Swordish counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Swordish drops back looking for a leg! Law is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Law manages to kick Swordish off! Swordish jumps back into Law's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Law wants to control the position but Swordish says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Swordish passes to full mount!

Swordish looking for a guillotine from mount but Law is having none of it.

Swordish jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Law is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Law and Swordish has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Law manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Law seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Swordish does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Swordish gets back to full guard.
Law wants to control from the top but Swordish keeps moving.
Kyle Swordish has got the better of the ground game so far.
Law preventing the sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Swordish showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Law misses with a double jab.
Marshall Law is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Law lands a nice looking kick to the body. Swordish takes a step back to recover.
Law goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Swordish drives through with a takedown into guard.
Swordish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Law is keeping the position for now.
Law has his hands on Swordish's head, controlling the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Law looking for a guillotine here but Swordish defends easily.
Swordish works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Swordish moves nicely into side control.
Law prevents Swordish from improving position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Swordish prevents Law from escaping the position.

Swordish tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Swordish thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Swordish is trying to get an arm triangle but Law is defending well.

Law is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Swordish is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Swordish has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Swordish wants to finish this one by submission but Law is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Swordish.

Law tries to hold on but Swordish postures up.
Law working to try and regain half guard.
Law wants to control but Swordish is having none of it.

Marshall Law has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kyle Swordish is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Swordish takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
