PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jossie Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ooka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Silva might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ladies and Gentlemen-Saliva. This should be fireworks!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Ooka!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooka misses the shot to the body.
Ooka lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Jossie Silva has been cut.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Silva scores with a one two! Ooka had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Paul Ooka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva lands a jab to the nose.
Ooka wants to clinch.
Silva checks a leg kick.
Silva takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Ooka sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ooka scores with a takedown into Silva's guard.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Ooka pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ooka's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Silva controls Ooka momentarily but Ooka frees himself.
Ooka controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ooka postures up.
Ooka is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ooka is one step ahead there.
Silva trying to keep a closed guard but Ooka is proving a slippery customer.
Silva wants to sweep here but Ooka controlling him for the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Ooka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jossie Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ooka moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
A lazy left from Ooka finds it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ooka throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Silva on the side of the head.
Ooka is looking to clinch.
Ooka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.

Ooka throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.

Ooka drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Silva is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Ooka is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Silva is breathing heavily.
Ooka scoring with strikes but Silva is staying in there.
Silva looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva trying to control the position but Ooka manages to sink in the hooks.

Ooka struggling to keep hold of the position.
Ooka is riding his opponent, not letting Silva buck him off.
Ooka doesn't have the hooks in and Silva manages to turn into his guard.
Ooka keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.

Ooka pushes Silva off and scrambles back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ooka doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Silva counters with a lovely shot to the body.
No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Ooka dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jossie Silva's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ooka goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Ooka ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A cross from Ooka lands.

Silva is rocked!

Jossie Silva's cut is getting worse.
Ooka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva blocks a head kick by Ooka.
Silva takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ooka gets in close and instigates a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ooka throws a big uppercut that drops Silva! More strikes from Ooka and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Silva lies dazed against the cage as Ooka celebrates with his cornermen!
