PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noah CD (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guy Butler told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noah CD!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guy Butler!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CD tries to clinch but Butler moves out of range.

Butler instigates a clinch.
CD wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Butler has him pressed against the cage.

CD breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from CD lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Butler has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Butler and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Butler blocks a low kick nicely.
Butler looks for the body kick but CD saw that one coming.
Butler connects with a solid leg kick.
Oooh a lovely combination from Butler sends CD down but not out. Butler dives into side control looking to finish.

CD is rocked!

Oh CD is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Butler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by CD, who protects the arm well.

Butler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. CD knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Butler stands up and beckons CD to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A slapping leg kick lands for CD.
CD seems to have got his legs back now.
CD uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Butler.

Butler has managed to clinch.

CD working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Butler wants to break free but CD has control.

CD breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A nice inside leg kick there by CD. That's going to slow Butler down.
CD connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Butler to the floor! CD dives in looking for the finish!

Butler is rocked!

It looks like Guy Butler has been cut.
CD content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Butler is still in real trouble! Can CD finish him?
CD is keen to just control but Butler is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
CD tries to stand but can't do so whilst Butler controls his leg.
Butler seems to have recovered his senses.
CD knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Butler on the ground.
Butler is trying to stand.
CD is tying to control. Butler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
CD is really struggling to control Butler but he's trying to hold on to the position.
CD wants to stand up but Butler is controlling the position.
CD is breathing heavily.
Butler is looking for a sweep. CD is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Butler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Butler seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Butler is trying to control the action in half guard but CD is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Butler tries to stand but can't do so whilst CD controls his leg.
CD wants to get back to full guard.

Butler stands up and beckons CD to join him on the feet.
Noah CD is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Butler throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nice defenses there by Butler.
A head kick by Butler misses
and CD counters with a nice leg kick.

Butler darts in and clinches CD up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Butler drops down looking for an ankle pick but CD pulls his leg out and moves away.
CD tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
CD throws out a leg kick but Butler moves out of range and CD only half commits.
Butler takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
CD throws a low kick but it's checked well by Butler.
CD takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

CD throws a body kick that misses.
Butler cracks the inside of CD's front leg.
CD throws a sloppy head kick and Butler moves out of range easily.

CD pushes Butler up against the cage in a clinch.
CD landing knees to the head.
Butler misses with a punch to the body.

Butler manages to break the clinch.
CD throws a half hearted mid kick.
Butler lands with an uppercut that bounces CD off the cage and back into rage.
CD looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Noah CD seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Butler darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Butler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
CD stuffs the takedown.
CD displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Butler tries to clinch but CD moves out of range.
CD connects with a solid leg kick.
Butler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Butler shoots in for a double leg but CD sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Noah CD has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guy Butler.
CD throws a leg kick
and Butler counters with a straight right hand.

Butler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butler is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
CD tries to reverse the position but Butler maintains control.
The referee warns CD that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Butler looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has CD covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
