Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robert Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vick Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Collins comes to the cage accompanied by Eminerm - Lose Yourself. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Collins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vick Armstrong!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong feints and then cracks Collins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Collins down.
Collins scores with a sloppy right hand. Armstrong should have avoided that one.
Armstrong throws a lazy right hand but Collins sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Collins scores with a three punch combo!
Collins ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Collins swats away the attempt to clinch by Armstrong.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Armstrong, right into the meat.
Armstrong needs to keep his hands up - Collins had a free shot at his head there.
Collins misses with an uppercut.
Armstrong closes the distance and clinches up with Collins, looking for a takedown. Armstrong pushes Collins against the cage but Collins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Armstrong misses with a hook. Collins ducked under it nicely.
Collins throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Armstrong.
Collins missing with a left hand there. Armstrong was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A solid body kick from Armstrong.
Collins throws a right and a left that both miss.
A punch combination from Collins misses.
Armstrong throws a low kick but Collins avoids it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Armstrong.
Armstrong with the ground and pound but Collins regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Collins looks like he's trying to stand up.
Armstrong throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Collins won't allow Armstrong to pass to mount.
Collins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Armstrong.
Armstrong not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Collins is staying active underneath Armstrong, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Armstrong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Armstrong closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Collins is trying to break the clinch but Armstrong is controlling him.
Armstrong keeps control of Collins as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Armstrong keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Collins's efforts to push away.

Armstrong has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Collins uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Collins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Collins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vick Armstrong will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Collins swinging wildly here.
Collins misses with an uppercut. Armstrong saw that one coming.
Collins keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Armstrong avoids a punch combination nicely.

Armstrong scores with a nice head shot.

Armstrong swats away the attempt to clinch by Collins.
Armstrong shoots in for a takedown but Collins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Collins lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Collins.
Armstrong has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Collins finds it's way round the side to connect with Armstrong's head.

Collins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Armstrong doesn't seem bothered though.

Robert Collins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Good leg kick by Armstrong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Robert Collins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Collins wants to clinch up but Armstrong keeps it at a distance.

Collins is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Collins paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Some bone on bone action there as Collins checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Collins tests Armstrong's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Collins gets caught flat footed, as Armstrong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Armstrong drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Collins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Armstrong has Collins in his guard.
Collins won't allow Armstrong to sweep him here.

Armstrong pulls Collins in close to prevent any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Collins looks to land a combination but Armstrong avoids it well.
Armstrong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Collins paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Collins sizes up Armstrong with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

and Armstrong makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Collins misses with an uppercut. Armstrong saw that one coming.
Armstrong takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Armstrong misses with a double jab.

and Armstrong counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Collins!

Armstrong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Collins is looking to escape.

Armstrong jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Collins is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Collins and Armstrong has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Armstrong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Collins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Collins is working to avoid the ground and pound but Armstrong connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Armstrong creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Collins sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Armstrong fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Armstrong with the ground and pound but Collins regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Armstrong throwing shots but Collins is blocking nicely.

Armstrong is looking for a kimura but Collins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Armstrong to get the leverage.
Armstrong looks to land a strike but Collins avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Armstrong wants to pass the guard but Collins is keeping the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Armstrong looks for a takedown but Collins sprawls well.

Armstrong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Armstrong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Collins is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Armstrong wants to control but Collins is keeping him busy.
Armstrong throwing strikes but Collins manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Vick Armstrong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Armstrong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
