The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nakombi, pushing him back against the cage.

McDonald gets control of Nakombi's arms and successfully pulls guard. McDonald will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Nakombi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nakombi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Nakombi dives in and grabs McDonald's left leg, looking for a takedown. McDonald pushes down on Nakombi's head and hops out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McDonald throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nakombi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McDonald tries to avoid it but Nakombi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McDonald to the ground. McDonald escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
