Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Professor Avenarius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avenarius's entrance music is Space Prophet Dogon, Sun City Girls. A fine choice. Rua has chosen Pitbull as his entrance music. Professor Avenarius is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avenarius misses with a head kick.
Avenarius gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rua won't allow Avenarius to get back to his feet.
Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Avenarius is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rua decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Some wild striking there from Avenarius.
Rua throws a half hearted mid kick.
Avenarius throws a nice looking combination but Rua bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rua avoids a punch combination nicely.
Avenarius throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rua wants to clinch up but Avenarius keeps it at a distance.
Avenarius tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rua feints and as Avenarius raises his hands in defense, Rua changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Avenarius keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.

Rua passes into half guard.
Avenarius wants to improve his position but Rua is controlling well.

Rua frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Rua lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Rua is working for a guillotine from mount but Avenarius frees his head quite easily.

Rua wants to control the pace but Avenarius is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rua fails to take his opponent's back.
Avenarius sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Avenarius is holding on to half guard well.
Avenarius knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rua on the ground.
Avenarius is refusing to be controlled, as Rua sits in half guard.

Avenarius wants to get back to his feet.
Avenarius misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Avenarius pushes Rua off looking to stand but Rua dives back in and keeps control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Avenarius throws a head kick that misses.
Avenarius lands a high kick to the side of Rua's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Avenarius dives into guard, looking to finish.
Rua is rocked!
It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
Rua keeping moving, preventing Avenarius from controlling successfully.
Rua is still in real trouble! Can Avenarius finish him?
Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Avenarius postures up in Rua's guard and throws a big left but Rua blocks it.
Rua seems to have recovered his senses.
Avenarius postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Avenarius with a flurry of punches that miss.

Rua not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rua is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Avenarius clinches but Rua breaks the clinch
and Rua counters with a nice double leg into side control. Avenarius won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua tries to advance to mount but can't.
Rua has an Americana. Avenarius didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rua is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rua hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
