Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricardo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Butler!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva ducks under a wild hook from Butler.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.
Butler is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva is looking to stall here but Butler recovers full guard.
Silva keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Butler's head.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Butler is trying to hold Silva in close to prevent damage but Silva has managed to pass into half guard.

Silva is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Butler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butler wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Butler sees it coming and defends easily.
Butler is trying to control but can't.

Silva escapes and gets back to his feet.
Butler misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.

Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Butler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Butler manages to get back to half guard.
Butler is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Butler keeps working.
Butler looks gassed!

Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Butler has managed to free his arm - good work.

The fighters are battling for position here. Butler manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Butler is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Butler has escaped and now he's on top!
Butler is in close to Silva's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Silva has his foot on Butler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Butler works his way back into a safe position though.
Butler distracts Silva with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Butler trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Butler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Butler passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Butler pulls his head out easily.

Butler seems to be looking for submissions.

Butler escapes and gets back to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Butler as he jumps to the side.
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Butler circles away.
Ricardo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva slips a jab and a cross from Butler.
Butler fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ricardo Silva will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Butler throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
Butler throws a one two combo.
Butler misses with a jab, cross combination.
Butler throws a series of punches but Silva avoids them all with ease.

Silva drives through with a takedown into guard.
Butler trying to control the position.

Silva stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Butler defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Butler's half guard.
Butler wants to get back to full guard.

Silva seems to be looking for submissions.

Butler manages to get to full guard.
Silva trying to control but Butler is working from the bottom.
Silva looking to pass the guard.
Butler is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Butler not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Butler is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Butler tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Silva presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Butler is trying to stand up.
Butler wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Silva looking to control but Butler is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Butler can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Butler is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Butler wants to control but Silva is having none of it.

Silva is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Silva extends the arm and Butler is forced to tap!
