PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Windham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Paul Pulido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Paul Pulido told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Windham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Paul Pulido!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Windham throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pulido.
Pulido fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pulido gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Windham.

Pulido closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pulido lands in his opponent's guard.

Windham looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pulido keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Windham's head.
Pulido lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Windham might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pulido missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Windham is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pulido defends well.
Pulido stands up over Windham, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pulido loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Windham not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pulido slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Pulido postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Windham is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Windham stands up and beckons Pulido to join him on the feet.
Pulido circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pulido shoots in for a double leg but Windham sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Windham tries to clinch but Pulido moves out of range.
A big left from Windham misses.

Windham has managed to clinch.

Windham tightens his grip and picks Pulido up, before dumping him to the ground. Pulido manages to land in guard.
Windham trying to control the position from guard on top but Pulido is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pulido is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Windham trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Windham wants to control from the top but Pulido keeps moving.
Windham throws and elbow that misses. Pulido uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Windham's guard. Nice move by Pulido!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Windham throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pulido chips away with some ground and pound.
Pulido looks gassed!
Pulido lands a couple of digs.
Pulido postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pulido is sitting in close to Windham's body. Windham has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Pulido is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Pulido is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Windham.
