Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Davy Bauwens!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Wegesin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bauwens scores with a jab to the jaw.
Bauwens displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wegesin throws out the jab.
Wegesin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bauwens counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wegesin's knee momentarily.
Wegesin misses with an uppercut
and Bauwens counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Wegesin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bauwens fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bauwens darts in and clinches Wegesin up against the cage.
Bauwens goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wegesin prevents a body shot from Bauwens.
Bauwens manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Bauwens works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Wegesin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bauwens uses it to pass to side control.
Wegesin is trying to improve his position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Wegesin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Bauwens lands strikes from half guard.
Wegesin manages to get to full guard.

Wegesin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bauwens trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bauwens wants to control from the top but Wegesin keeps moving.
Bauwens wanted to stand there but Wegesin had control of the position.

Bauwens thows a big elbow that misses.

Wegesin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bauwens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bauwens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bauwens looking to sit in guard and control but Wegesin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Wegesin seems to be working for a kimura but Bauwens defends the submission attempt.

Bauwens wants the takedown. Wegesin is fighting it off but Bauwens persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wegesin's guard against the cage.

Wegesin has his foot on Bauwens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bauwens works his way back into a safe position though.

Wegesin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bauwens can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wegesin pushes a forearm under Bauwens's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Bauwens is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
