The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
patterson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
patterson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Williams tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
nick patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
patterson looks to land a combination. Williams sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

patterson has managed to clinch.
patterson tries to pull guard but Williams won't allow it.
patterson with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
patterson tries to land a knee to the head but Williams blocks with his arms.
patterson is trying to stall.

Williams really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
patterson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Williams is defending well for now.
Williams is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
patterson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Williams smiles and moves away.

Williams decides to pull guard.

patterson stays in close to Williams's body and controls the position.
patterson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Williams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in patterson's guard.
patterson pulls Williams in close to prevent any damage.
Williams looking to sit in guard and control but patterson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

patterson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Williams is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Williams has escaped and now he's on top!

Williams wanted to stand there but patterson had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Williams tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Williams goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, patterson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Williams's guard! Nice work there by patterson!

patterson drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says patterson as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Williams screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with patterson! Nice submission victory there!
