Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maciej Szmyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenny Ricardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Szmyd comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman - Metallica. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ricardo shoots in for a takedown but Szmyd shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ricardo moves into the clinch successfully.

Szmyd slips nicely into half guard.
Szmyd wants to free his trapped foot but Ricardo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ricardo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Szmyd swivels and escapes.
Ricardo shoots in looking for a takedown. Szmyd tries to sprawl out of it but Ricardo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Szmyd manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Szmyd fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ricardo sprawls well initially but Szmyd persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Szmyd drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Szmyd looks up at the clock and then as Ricardo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Szmyd smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Szmyd is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ricardo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ricardo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Szmyd's best efforts.

Ricardo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Szmyd pulls his head out easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ricardo is staying active underneath Szmyd, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Szmyd is looking to advance position but Ricardo won't allow it.

Szmyd distracts Ricardo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ricardo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Szmyd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Szmyd passes Ricardo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Szmyd tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ricardo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ricardo is fighting off a takedown attempt but Szmyd is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ricardo to the mat. Ricardo regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Szmyd has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
