PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gold Member (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gold Member has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gold Member seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gold Member!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Skinner!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Member.
Member misses with a head kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Member looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Member lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Skinner backs up against the cage.


It looks like Dan Skinner has been cut.
Member lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Member.
Member fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Member works the jab nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Member circles away from the clinch attempt.
Skinner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Member moves away.

Skinner decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Member wants to get back to full guard.
Skinner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Skinner trying to control the action but Member is working from the bottom.
Skinner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Member really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Member wants to get back to his feet.
Skinner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Skinner.
Member lands a jab.
Member connects with a single shot there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Skinner is looking to clinch but Member is avoiding it.
Skinner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Member is fending him off so far but Skinner persists. Nope, Member circles away and we're back to standing.
Member shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Skinner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Skinner.
Member is breathing heavily.

Skinner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Member, up you get!
Member lands an overhand right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Skinner is defended easily by Member.
Gold Member has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Skinner.
Member fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Skinner avoids it really well and circles away.

Skinner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Skinner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Skinner wants to stand but Member has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skinner controlling the pace.
Member avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Skinner.
Member looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Skinner stalling.
Skinner stops Member from getting back to his feet.
Skinner uses his free foot to push down on Member's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Member.
Member tries to reverse the position but Skinner maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Member wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gold Member will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dan Skinner's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Skinner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Member sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Skinner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Member sprawls well. Member wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Skinner gets slowly back to his feet.
Member has a takedown stuffed.
Member is looking to score with low kicks.
Skinner looks to land a combination but Member avoids it well.
Skinner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Member manages to avoid it.
Member shoots and misses

and Skinner holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Member wants to break free but Skinner has control.
Member fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gold Member. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Skinner is trying to force a seperation but Member has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Member wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Skinner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Member smiles and moves away.
Skinner slips a jab and a cross from Member.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Skinner doesn't manage to clinch there - Member circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Member with a poor takedown

and Skinner counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Member!
Skinner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Member is bucking up trying to escape but Skinner cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Skinner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Member is looking to escape.
Skinner lands with some strikes.
Member knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Skinner on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Skinner controlling from the full mount.
Skinner works his way to his opponent's back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Skinner controlling the position well here. Member rolled but Skinner kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Skinner is cranking Member's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Member! He's tightened the choke and Member is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dan Skinner!
