Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Howland Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shizyuka Shizo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Howland Reed has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Howland Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shizyuka Shizo!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shizo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Reed looking to control.
Reed has control of Shizo's left arm, preventing Shizo from doing any damage.
Reed not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reed seems keen to control Shizo's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Howland Reed.

Reed has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reed scores with a jab to the jaw.
Reed throws a hook but Shizo blocks it.
Reed looks to throw the jab but Shizo is out of range.

Shizo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reed defends it nicely.

Reed throws a leg kick which misses Shizo's front leg but catches the back leg as Shizo tries to avoid it.
Reed tries to move into range but Shizo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Reed moves into range and connects with a jab.
Reed swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Reed throws an overhand right that lands on Shizo's shoulder, as Shizo tries to avoid the shot.
Shizo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Howland Reed will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Shizo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Reed throws a big shot that misses.

Shizo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Reed works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Reed throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shizo.

Shizo moves forwards but Reed connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Reed displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shizo throws out the jab.
Reed looks to land a right hand but Shizo moved out of range.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shizo needs to keep his hands up - Reed had a free shot at his head there.
Reed fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shizo.
Some wild striking there from Reed.
Reed clobbers Shizo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Donk. Reed catches Shizo right on the button with a cross.
Reed scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Shizo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Reed lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shizo closes the distance and clinches up with Reed, looking for a takedown. Shizo pushes Reed against the cage but Reed circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Reed is looking to slow Shizo down with leg kicks.
Shizo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Reed feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Shizo's calf.
Shizo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Reed sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Nice defenses there by Shizo.
Reed misses with a double jab.
Reed throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shizo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Reed.
Shizo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reed.
Howland Reed is winning the standup battle so far.
Shizo throws a predictable looking body shot
and Shizo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reed connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shizo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Reed swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shizo.
Reed clobbers Shizo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Reed lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reed.
Shizo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Shizo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shizo somewhat.

Howland Reed showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reed, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
