PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between deep blue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Jobber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jobber has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

blue takes the fight into the clinch.
Jobber looks gassed!
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

blue is trying to trip Jobber. He has hold of a leg but Jobber is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. blue persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
blue slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
blue's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
blue is pushing down on Jobber's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jobber is fighting to maintain full guard but blue has managed to sneak the leg through.
blue frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
blue controlling his opponent.
blue is landing with some decent strikes but Jobber is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The referee warns Jobber that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

blue has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jobber's face.

blue seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jobber for as long as he can get away with.
Jobber seems to have recovered his senses.

Jobber tries to reverse the position but blue maintains control.
blue lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

blue takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. deep blue just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Jobber tries to keep at a distance but blue has taken the fight into the clinch.

blue has hold of one of Jobber's legs. Jobber is fighting the takedown attempt but blue gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
blue controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
blue pushes down on Jobber's leg and manages to get into half guard.
blue will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
blue is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jobber!
Jobber throws a strike from the bottom but blue uses the opportunity to take his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jobber can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

blue drives through and clinches with Jobber against the cage.

blue gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jobber regains guard.

Jobber is working an open guard so blue takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jobber should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jobber tries to clinch up

and blue counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by blue.

blue has Jobber pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. blue pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jobber tumbling to the mat - blue dives into Jobber's guard.
blue cracks Jobber with a solid left hand.
Jobber throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
blue controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

blue decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jobber, up you get!

blue forces Jobber back against the cage and clinches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

blue has clasped his hands together around Jobber's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

deep blue overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jobber throws up some feeble strikes from the bottom. blue smiles and locks on to an arm, pivoting beautifully as he drops to the side for an armbar. Jobber tries momentarily to escape but he knows he's done and taps furiously to avoid injury. Confident submission skills displayed there by blue.
