PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lipton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuel Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Manuel Ortega was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Ortega.

Ortega darts in and clinches Jackson up against the ropes.
Jackson is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Ortega gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jackson drags the fight down to the ground.
Jackson controlling Ortega's posture.
Ortegais looking to pass into half guard but Jackson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Jackson is in guard.
Ortega looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ortega not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jackson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ortega pinned against the cage. Ortega gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ortega should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jackson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jackson jumps guard but Ortega stands there with Jackson around his waist. Jackson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lipton Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ortega breaks from the clinch.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ortega but Ortega pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ortega will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ortega tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.

Ortega loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jackson is pulling down on Ortega's head to control his posture.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ortega reaches up to try and control the position but Jackson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ortega rolls and tries to escape and now Jackson has his back!

I really don't envy Ortega right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Jackson feints and as Ortega raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ortega might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
