Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole has chosen Daniel Holter- Ready to fight as his entrance music. Vinnie Cook has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vinnie Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Cole.

Cook bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cook grinds an elbow into Cole's temple.

Cook tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cook has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cook throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Cook wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cole, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Cook postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cole is pushing Cook's head away, looking to escape. Cook manages to hold on to the position though.
Cook lands a few punches from side control.
Cole is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cook is controlling him well.

Cole is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Cole is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cook has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cole takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Cook uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cole.
Horrible takedown by Cook or perhaps it was just good defense by Cole which made him look bad.

Cole wants to break the clinch but can't.

Cole breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice body punch from Cole.
Cole looks to land a combination. Cook sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Cook shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cole wants to get back to his feet but Cook is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cole really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cook thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cook stops Cole from standing up.
Cook throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Cook is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cook drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cook jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cole misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Cook dodges the punch combination from Cole.
Cole swings for the body but Cook moves out of range.
Cole tries to score with a low kick but Cook moves his leg out of the way.

That's time! Cook's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cole pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Cole darts in and clinches Cook up against the cage.
Cook tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cole avoids it.

Cole pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cook shoots in and drives through. Cole sprawls well.

Cole moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cole's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cole tries to clinch there but Cook circles away.
Cole throws a series of strikes that have Cook backpedaling.
Vinnie Cook is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cook throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cole's waist but Cole gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cook off to one side.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
