PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harver Danjah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Nottingham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nottingham has chosen Bullet with a Name- Nonpoint as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harver Danjah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Nottingham!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danjah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nottingham as he avoids it easily.
Danjah could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nottingham fails to land with a series of punches.
Harver Danjah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nottingham stuffs the takedown.
Danjah throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Danjah looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice sprawl there from Danjah as Nottingham shoots in.
Nottingham misses with a series of wild punches.
Nottingham avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nottingham rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Danjah moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Danjah lands with a slapping head kick.
Danjah tries to clinch there but Nottingham circles away.
Nottingham tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nottingham dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Danjah tries to close the distance and clinch but Nottingham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Danjah changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nottingham looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nottingham struggling a bit here.
Nottingham tries to improve position but can't.
Nottingham is not content to let Danjah control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nottingham has control of an arm but Danjah manages to advance to Danjah's back!
Nottingham is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Nottingham turns into Danjah and is now in his guard.
Nottingham looking to pass the guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Nottingham looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Danjah is trying to keep Nottingham in close.
Nottingham trying to control the position from guard on top but Danjah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nottingham looks gassed!
Nottingham tries to free his leg and advance position but Danjah is retaining full guard.
Danjah has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Nottingham wants to pass the guard but Danjah is keeping the position.
Danjah not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Danjah throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Nottingham missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Danjah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nottingham manages to avoid it.
Nottingham throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Danjah moves into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Danjah gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Danjah wants to stand but Nottingham has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Nottingham is trying to maintain the position but Danjah is very close to passing his half guard.
Danjah is looking to take a break and control but Nottingham is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nottingham won't allow Danjah to pass to mount.

Nottingham looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nottingham wants to improve his position but Danjah is controlling well.
Nottingham is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nottingham works his way to full guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nottingham working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Danjah doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Danjah manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nottingham looking for a guillotine here but Danjah defends easily.

Nottingham is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Nottingham has his foot on Danjah's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Danjah works his way back into a safe position though.

Nottingham looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Danjah controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nottingham looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Nottingham will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Nottingham circles away from the clinch attempt
and Nottingham counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Danjah fails in his attempt to clinch.
Danjah tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Danjah closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Danjah wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nottingham keeps working.
Nottingham can't do much from the bottom here.
Nottingham is letting Danjah control him for a moment.
Danjah working the head and body with strikes.
Danjah trying to control the action but Nottingham is working from the bottom.
Nottingham is breathing heavily.
Nottingham is trying to work for a sweep but Danjah has mounted him!

Danjah looking to finish Nottingham with some ground and pound. This is bad for Nottingham!
Nottingham keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Danjah controlling from mount.
Harver Danjah overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Danjah punishing his opponent with strikes.
Danjah is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nottingham can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Nottingham is rocked!

Nottingham has left one of his arms exposed and Danjah doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Nottingham screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Harver Danjah!
