Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasya Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zach Rector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrov comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Zach Rector has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasya Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zach Rector!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rector doesn't manage to clinch there - Petrov circles away.
Petrov throws a big shot that misses.

Rector changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Petrov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Petrov wants to control but Rector postures up.
Rector tries to advance to mount but Petrov instead regains half guard.
Rector really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petrov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rector prevents Petrov from standing back up.

Petrov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Petrov trying to control from the bottom.

Petrov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rector pulls his head out easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rector is pressing down on Petrov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Petrov is holding on for now.
Rector content to control rather than advance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Petrov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Petrov throws a sloppy head kick and Rector moves out of range easily.

Rector bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rector advances to full mount.
Rector takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rector working for a guillotine from mount but Petrov is in no mood to give up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rector tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petrov is looking to improve his position but Rector isn't that keen on the idea.
Petrov regains half guard.
Rector looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rector is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Petrov misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Rector is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Petrov is just riding it out for now. Rector eventually gives up the hold.
Rector looks gassed!
Rector is looking to stall here but Petrov recovers full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Petrov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rector manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rector looking to hit a scissor sweep but Petrov is one step ahead there.
Petrov landing with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zach Rector dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A combination from Petrov does no damage.
Vasya Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rector looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rector is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Petrov's half guard.
Petrov is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Rector is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rector lands a nice short elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rector tries to stand but as he's on his way up, Petrov locks on to a trailing arm. Oh, he's locked on a tight looking armbar - it looks tight! Petrov rolls him over and extends the submission further. Rector is forced to tap! He'll be kicking himself for that sloppy move but that was very slick from Petrov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Vasya Petrov!
