Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Lakanik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jazz Caparison!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lakanik doesn't manage to clinch there - Caparison circles away.
Caparison circles away from the clinch attempt.
Caparison sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Lakanik fails with an attempt to clinch.
Caparison is looking to clinch but Lakanik is avoiding it.

Lakanik feints and then cracks Caparison's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Caparison down.

Caparison feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lakanik tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Caparison paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lakanik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

John Lakanik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lakanik shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Caparison is trying to defend but Lakanik finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Caparison just trying to survive but Lakanik is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Lakanik is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
John Lakanik overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Caparison trying to get back to his feet but Lakanik is in full control for now.
Caparison rolls, trying to escape but Lakanik keeps control of the position.
Lakanik will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Caparison might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lakanik kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
What can Caparison do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Caparison.

Caparison shoots in for a double leg but Lakanik sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
