PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikhail Filitov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Crostly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikhail Filitov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Crostly!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filitov fails with a takedown attempt.
Filitov looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Crostly drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Crostly wants to stand but Filitov has his arm trapped.
Crostly is trying to ground and pound but Filitov uses the momentary lack of control by Crostly to regain half guard.
Filitov avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Crostly.
Filitov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Filitov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Crostly tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Filitov.
Crostly controlling the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Crostly not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Crostly stands up from half guard.
Crostly tries to bum rush Filitov with a series of wild strikes but Filitov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Crostly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Filitov is trying to keep Crostly in close.
Crostly with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crostly content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Crostly controlling from the top position.
Crostly loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Filitov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Crostly.
Crostly in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Filitov controls Crostly momentarily but Crostly frees himself.
Crostly stands up over Filitov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crostly slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Crostly is looking to work some ground and pound but Filitov has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Crostly dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Crostly shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Filitov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Crostly slows the pace down.
Filitov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Crostly connects with a decent elbow.
Filitov is trying to escape the position but Crostly is controlling the position.
Let's hope that Crostly has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Crostly looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Crostly tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Crostly looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Filitov is avoiding damage well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Crostly misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Crostly in side control lands a decent elbow.
A lull in the action here.
Crostly moves into full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crostly tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Crostly is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Filitov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A nice elbow there by Crostly.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Crostly is landing with some decent strikes but Filitov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Crostly throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Crostly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Filitov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Crostly lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Crostly goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Crostly decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Filitov is in trouble now - Crostly has advanced to mount!
Crostly sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Crostly looking to control and managing it successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crostly in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Filitov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Crostly tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Crostly can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Filitov is looking to escape.
Crostly lands a big shot there that rocks Filitov but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Filitov blocking the ground and pound.
Crostly looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crostly thowing shots but they're missing.
Filitov tries to hold on but Crostly pushes him away.

Crostly looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Crostly landing punches.
Crostly throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Filitov because Crostly loaded up on that one.
Crostly scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Filitov?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Filitov is in a horrible position here. Crostly smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Crostly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Crostly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
