Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelvin Redondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kelvin Redondo!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne scores with a decent looking hook.
Redondo checks a leg kick.

Redondo scores a takedown into full mount!
Redondo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Payne wants to hold on but Redondo pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Payne regains half guard.

Redondo is looking for a kimura here.
Payne is trying to stand back up but Redondo is controlling him

Redondo works his way into full mount!
Payne is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Payne tries to lock up and control but Redondo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Redondo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Payne can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Redondo looking to finish with strikes here!
Payne is bucking up trying to escape but Redondo cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Redondo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Payne can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Redondo prevents Payne from getting the reversal.

Redondo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Payne is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Payne and Redondo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Payne can't do much from the bottom here.

Redondo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Redondo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Payne rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Redondo's guard! Nice work there by Payne!

Payne stands and steps away. Redondo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Redondo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Redondo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Payne doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Redondo.

Redondo decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kelvin Redondo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Payne's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Redondo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Payne moves in looking to clinch but Redondo pushes him off.

Payne gets caught flat footed, as Redondo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Redondo wants to pass the guard but Payne is keeping the position.

Redondo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Payne looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Payne looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Payne!

Payne decides to stand up, so the ref orders Redondo to his feet.

and Redondo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Redondo is breathing heavily.
Payne looks like he's trying to stand up.
Payne is not content to let Redondo control the position.

Payne is controlling Redondo's trapped leg to prevent Redondo from advancing to side control.
Payne moves into full guard.
Payne wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Redondo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Payne fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Redondo sprawls well initially but Payne persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kelvin Redondo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Redondo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Payne moves into the clinch.
Redondo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Max Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kelvin Redondo.
Redondo is working for takedown but Payne is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Payne dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Payne pulls Redondo into guard.

Redondo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Payne is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Redondo, into his guard.
Payne not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Redondo is working an open guard so Payne takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Redondo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Payne's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Redondo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Redondo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Payne takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Payne seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Redondo for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Max Payne just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
A jab lands there for Payne.
Redondo shoots and misses

and Payne counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Payne.
Max Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kelvin Redondo.
Redondo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Payne avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Payne is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Redondo can't fight it off and eventually Payne manages to take the fight to the floor. Redondo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Payne wants to stand but Redondo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Redondo is working an open guard so Payne takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Payne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Redondo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Payne counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Redondo!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Redondo is trying to stand up.
Redondo wants to control but Payne is having none of it.
Payne content just to control the position here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Payne showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Payne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
