Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Hurt. The crowd seem to be enjoying McNasty's choice of entrance music: Burn it to the ground-Nickelback. Austin Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Filthy McNasty!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

McNasty feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McNasty wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McNasty is trying to get back to full guard.

McNasty is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith decides to take the fight back to the feet.
McNasty ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McNasty throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McNasty off to one side.
McNasty throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
Smith lands a glancing blow to the side of McNasty's head.

Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McNasty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
McNasty throws a big right hand that misses.
Smith pulls McNasty in close to prevent any damage.
McNasty pushes down on Smith's leg and manages to get into half guard.

McNasty tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it.

Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
McNasty throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
McNasty thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McNasty wants to pass the guard but Smith is defending well.

Smith is doing well to control the position and prevent McNasty from advancing to side control.
McNasty works his foot free and advances to mount.
Smith tries to hold on but McNasty postures up.

McNasty looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McNasty avoids the attempt from Smith to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McNasty working for a guillotine from mount but Smith is in no mood to give up.
Smith is looking to improve his position but McNasty isn't that keen on the idea.
McNasty misses with a head shot.
Smith holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as McNasty tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McNasty working away from the top, dropping strikes.

A close round but Filthy McNasty will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

McNasty pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McNasty throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and McNasty finishes the takedown easily into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McNasty accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McNasty trying to move into half guard but instead Smith has managed to sweep!
McNasty looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

McNasty looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Smith passes into half guard.

McNasty drops his hands momentarily and Smith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
McNasty takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Smith connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McNasty's hands.

McNasty takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smith scores with a one two! McNasty had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

McNasty's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Smith lands with a hook. McNasty tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
McNasty walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McNasty is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?

Smith is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
