The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okazuta closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aguiar circles away.

Aguiar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Okazuta sprawls well initially but Aguiar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Aguiar wants to pass to mount but Okazuta is defending the position.

Aguiar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Okazuta sees it coming and defends easily.

Aguiar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Okazuta does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Aguiar is trying to control Okazuta's posture but Okazuta avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aguiar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Okazuta wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Aguiar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
