Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dante Woods!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Woods sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Owens somewhat.
A telegraphed right hand from Woods misses the target.

Owens is trying hard to land a takedown here. Woods sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A punch lands to the side of Woods 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Owens tries to clinch up but Woods circles away and keeps his distance.

Owens shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Owens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Woods. Owens does a little dance to reset his feet.

Dante Woods seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Woods not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A looping hook to the body misses from Woods. Owens does a little dance to reset his feet.
Owens shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Owens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Woods on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Owens. Owens obviously looking to wear him down.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Owens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Woods's waist but Woods gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Owens off to one side.

Woods throws a lazy right hand but Owens sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Woods tries to bum rush Owens with a series of wild strikes but Owens uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Owens misses with a takedown attempt - Woods sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Woods looks to land a right hand but Owens moved out of range.
Woods works over Owens's head and body with a nice combination.
Woods throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Owens shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Woods pinned against the cage. Woods gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Owens is trying to drag Woods to the mat but Woods just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Woods's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Owens shoots in for a takedown but Woods shows good takedown defense.
Woods throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Woods jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Woods connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Woods lands with a hook. Owens tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Owens ducks right into an uppercut from Woods.
Owens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Woods avoids it really well and circles away.

Owens lands a jab.
Woods keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Owens changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Woods tries to avoid it but Owens manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Woods to the ground. Woods escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dante Woods will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Owens's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Owens is working for a guillotine from mount but Woods frees his head quite easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Owens is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Woods can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Woods prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Woods sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Owens stops Woods from getting back to his feet.
Owens not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Owens is pressing down on Woods's thigh, looking to free his foot. Woods is holding on for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Owens is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Woods has managed to free his arm - good work.
Owens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Woods does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Woods gets back to full guard.

Owens decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Woods, up you get!

Woods lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Owens circles away quickly and effectively.

Woods is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

and Owens counters with a takedown into side control.

Owens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Owens wants to control but Woods is keeping him busy.
Owens throwing strikes but Woods manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Owens is trying to control Woods's posture but Woods avoids it.
Woods remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dante Woods is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Owens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Woods was covering up waiting for the punch and Owens finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Woods pushes Owens off and gets back to his feet.

I think Woods has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
