The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn misses with a low kick as Johnson jumps back.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Johnson is trying to get an arm triangle but Penn is defending well.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Penn has escaped the position, nice work there.
Penn is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Johnson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Penn is trying to buck Johnson off.

Penn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson is working Penn over with some ground and pound from side control.
Johnson is trying to ground and pound but Penn uses the momentary lack of control by Johnson to regain half guard.
Johnson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Penn pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.
Penn tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Penn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Penn wants to sweep but no luck.
Johnson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Penn scores with a nice shot.

Penn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Johnson stacks Penn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Johnson!
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Penn is breathing heavily.
Penn on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson tries to move to mount but Penn blocks the move with his legs.
Johnson working away.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Johnson has hold of Penn's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Penn seems comfortable defending it but Johnson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Penn is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Penn is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Johnson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
