The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Volkar or perhaps it was just good defense by Hunts which made him look bad.
Hunts throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Volkar stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Hunts follows into mount!

It looks like Vasili Volkar has been cut.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hunts feints and as Volkar raises his hands in defense, Hunts changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Volkar thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hunts passes Volkar's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Hunts wants to control but Volkar is keeping him busy.
Volkar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Volkar wants to sweep here but Hunts controlling him for the moment.

Hunts has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Volkar had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hunts is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Volkar Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hunts's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Volkar tries to clinch up but Hunts circles away and keeps his distance.

Volkar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
