Palowakski has chosen Burning Down the House as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Frank Mir could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Fred Palowakski's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fred Palowakski!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mir scores a takedown into full mount!
Palowakski is in a horrible position here. Mir smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mir lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


Palowakski is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Palowakski prevents Mir from taking his back.
Mir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Palowakski is looking to escape.

Mir looking for a guillotine from mount but Palowakski is having none of it.
Palowakski is wriggling around trying to escape.

Palowakski is looking to improve his position.

Mir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Palowakski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Palowakski throws and elbow that misses. Mir uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Palowakski's guard. Nice move by Mir!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Palowakski tries to clinch but Mir moves out of range.
Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Palowakski defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mir.
Mir ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Palowakski looks gassed!

Mir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mir breaks from Palowakski's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Palowakski wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Palowakski trying to control the action but Mir just sinks the hooks in.

Mir is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Palowakski rolls, trying to escape but Mir keeps control of the position.

Palowakski breaks Mir's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Palowakski trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Palowakski thows a big elbow that misses.
Mir is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Palowakski working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Palowakski with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Palowakski dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Palowakski tries to close the distance and clinch but Mir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Palowakski is looking to clinch but Mir is avoiding it.
Palowakski tries to clinch but Mir is having none of it.
Mir lunges at Palowakski with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Palowakski's hand.
Mir lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Palowakski is looking to close the distance but Mir sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Palowakski crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Palowakski is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Frank Mir!
