Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Lebedev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lebedev is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The best Alex, is Lebedev. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Shlemenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Lebedev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lebedev swats away the attempt to clinch by Shlemenko.

Lebedev moves into the clinch.
Shlemenko tries to score a body lock takedown but Lebedev shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Lebedev tries to pull guard but Shlemenko holds him up against the cage and eventually Lebedev drops back down to his feet.

Lebedev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shlemenko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shlemenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lebedev manages to get himself to full guard.

Shlemenko is fighting to break Lebedev's control of his arms but Lebedev is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Shlemenko wants to pass the guard but Lebedev is keeping the position.
Lebedev controls Shlemenko momentarily but Shlemenko frees himself.

Shlemenko drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lebedev dives on top into guard.

Shlemenko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lebedev defends well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Shlemenko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lebedev is looking to improve his position but Shlemenko isn't that keen on the idea.

Lebedev is desperately trying to improve his position but Shlemenko has a good base and remains in mount.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lebedev can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shlemenko is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Lebedev knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Lebedev for a finish.

Shlemenko is trying to stick to Lebedev's back but Lebedev is turning into Shlemenko. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Shlemenko's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lebedev.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Shlemenko is breathing heavily.
Lebedev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shlemenko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Shlemenko regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lebedev.
Lebedev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lebedev is looking to advance position but Shlemenko has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Shlemenko wants to take Lebedev's back but he can't do it this time.

A close round but Alex Lebedev will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Lebedev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Lebedev seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Shlemenko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lebedev is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shlemenko, into his guard.

Shlemenko is looking for a triangle but Lebedev pushes his legs off easily.

Alex Lebedev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Lebedev throws a nice looking combination but Shlemenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Well Lebedev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
