PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Mytsyno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ford comes to the cage accompanied by "Get Off On The Pain" by Gary Allan. Mytsyno has chosen Rev Theory - Voices as his entrance music. Ed Mytsyno is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Ford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ed Mytsyno!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ford closes the distance and clinches up with Mytsyno, looking for a takedown. Ford pushes Mytsyno against the cage but Mytsyno circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mytsyno stuffs the takedown.

Ford shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mytsyno is trying to defend but Ford finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ford is looking for a kimura here.
Ford wants to pass to mount but Mytsyno is defending the position.

Ford is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Mytsyno to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Ford drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mytsyno manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ford has Mytsyno in his guard.
Ford could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mytsyno controls from within his opponent's guard.

Let's hope that Mytsyno has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ford looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mytsyno passes into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mytsyno takes a little break here. Ford wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Mytsyno's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ed Mytsyno.
Ford shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mytsyno sprawls well. Mytsyno wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ford gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Ford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice combination there by Mytsyno.
Ford gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mytsyno.

Mytsyno shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ford's guard.


Ford is rocked!
Mytsyno content to stall in guard here.
Oh Ford is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ford seems to have got his legs back now.

Ford working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mytsyno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mytsyno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ford is breathing heavily.

Ford looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mytsyno passes into side control.
Ford is looking for a sweep.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ford is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mytsyno slows the pace down.
Ford is trying to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Ford's face as Mytsyno controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Mytsyno dominated that round.

A combination from Mytsyno does no damage.
Eric Ford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ford has his takedown stuffed
and Mytsyno counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ford slips a jab and a cross from Mytsyno.

Mytsyno shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ford is trying to defend but Mytsyno finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mytsyno perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Ford with the active half guard here but Mytsyno passes nicely into side control.
Ford tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ford seems a little lost for a moment, as Mytsyno dominates the positioning.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ed Mytsyno.
Mytsyno tests Ford's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mytsyno misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mytsyno fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ford looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Mytsyno closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ford did well to prevent Mytsyno getting side control.

A lull in the action here.
Mytsyno connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ford some visible discomfort.
Ford is letting Mytsyno control him for a moment.
Ford tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mytsyno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Ford manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Ford is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mytsyno pulls his head out easily.

Ford looking for a kimura from the bottom but Mytsyno passes into side control!
Mytsyno is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ford's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ed Mytsyno.
Mytsyno rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ford moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mytsyno throws a right and a left that Ford avoids nicely.

Mytsyno feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ford has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mytsyno is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ford.
Ford is looking for a sweep.
Ford trying to remain calm as Mytsyno controls from the top position.
Ford might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ford regains half guard.
Mytsyno performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Ed Mytsyno has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Mytsyno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Ford doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Mytsyno counters with a takedown into side control.
Mytsyno lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ford down.
Ford is trying to improve his position.
Mytsyno controls the position from side control.
Ford is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mytsyno happy to just control the position for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ed Mytsyno.
Ford walks into a jab.
Mytsyno throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Ford stumbling backwards into the cage! Ford bounces back off the cage towards Mytsyno, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Mytsyno lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Mytsyno celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ed Mytsyno!
