PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alec Terp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alec Terp is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brian Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alec Terp!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Terp throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hall blocks it with crossed arms.

Terp jumps into guard, dragging Hall to the mat.
Terp is trying to keep Hall in close.
Terp is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hall showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hall passes into half guard.
Hall prevents Terp from improving his position.
Terp is looking to escape.
Hall takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall prevents Terp from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall not doing much here.

Hall is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Terp sees it coming and defends easily.
Hall wants to control but Terp is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hall is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Terp is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brian Hall.

Terp lands a big head kick that sends Hall tumbling to the mat! Terp takes a step backwards and waves Hall back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hall is rocked!


It looks like Brian Hall has been cut.
Terp lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hall at a distance.
Oh Hall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hall is breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Terp.
Hall seems to have got his legs back now.
Terp throws a head kick but Hall moves out of range.
Terp fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hall manages to avoid it.
Terp tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Terp tries a head kick but it misses.
Hall lands with a shot to the body.
Terp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Terp wants to clinch

and Hall holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Terp fails to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hall pulls Terp into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hall has a closed guard, preventing Terp from standing up.
Hall controls Terp momentarily but Terp frees himself.
Terp wants to get up but he can't break Hall's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Terp is looking to stand up but Hall won't let him.
Hall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Terp connects with a high kick.
Terp throws a head kick that misses.
Hall throws a right hand that Terp ducks under and follows up with a left that Terp also avoids with ease.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hall has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hall ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hall no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Terp gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Terp misses with a head kick.
Terp throws a lazy head kick
enabling Hall to counter with a crisp jab.
Hall swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Terp darts in trying to clinch
and Hall counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Terp misses with a jab to the body
and Hall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hall clinches up against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A head punch on the inside from Terp fails to land.
Terp misses with a short punch on the inside.
Terp gets underhooks to prevent Hall's takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alec Terp dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brian Hall's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Terp misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Terp lands a big head kick that sends Hall tumbling to the mat! Terp takes a step backwards and waves Hall back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Terp throws a head kick that misses.
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Terp shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Terp throws a predictable looking body shot

and Hall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Terp won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Terp is trying to escape the position but Hall is controlling the position.

Hall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Terp knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Terp keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Terp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hall thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Terp wants to control but Hall postures up.
Hall wants to control but Terp is keeping him busy.
A control attempt from Terp but he's now mounted!

Hall with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Terp tries to lock up and control but Hall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Terp is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Hall is staying active.
Hall throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Hall mounts Terp! Really nice guard pass there!
Terp prevents any damage by holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Terp stops Hall from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Hall can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Terp is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Terp has given up his back here. Will Hall look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Terp breaks Hall's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Hall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hall might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hall looking to hit a scissor sweep but Terp is one step ahead there.

Terp decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hall takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hall avoids the head kick by Terp.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alec Terp will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Brian Hall's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Terp tries for a takedown but Hall circles away easily

and Hall counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hall trying to control from half guard but Terp is working away.
Terp moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Terp wants to stand up but Hall is controlling him.
Hall pushing down on Terp's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Hall is looking for a kimura but Terp is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hall to get the leverage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Terp is not content to let Hall control the position.

Terp kicks off Hall and gets to his feet.
Hall avoids the head kick by Terp.
Terp tries a head kick but it misses.
Terp tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Terp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Terp wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hall is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Terp frees his head nicely. Oh but Hall has switched to an armbar! Terp is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Brian Hall!
