Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Grayson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sufjan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grayson comes to the cage accompanied by Crazy Train by Ozzy Osborne. Stevens is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: They Are Zombies. Sufjan Stevens told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Marcus Grayson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sufjan Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grayson on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Stevens shoots in for a double leg but Grayson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Grayson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Grayson blocks a head kick by Stevens.
Grayson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stevens.
Grayson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Grayson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Stevens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sufjan Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stevens defending well as Grayson loads up on a big left hand.
Stevens misses the shot to the body.
Stevens shoots in looking for a takedown. Grayson tries to sprawl out of it but Stevens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Grayson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Stevens throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Grayson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Stevens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Grayson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Grayson misses with a few strikes there.
Stevens shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Good standup being displayed there by Grayson as he connects with a hook.

Stevens takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Grayson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Stevens misses with a takedown
and Grayson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Marcus Grayson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sufjan Stevens.
Stevens looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stevens drops his hands momentarily and Grayson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Grayson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Grayson throws a series of strikes that have Stevens backpedaling.
Stevens is trying desperately to land a takedown but Grayson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Stevens.

Stevens gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Grayson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Stevens looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Stevens slips a jab and a cross from Grayson.
Grayson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Grayson lands with a right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stevens swings away with a body shot that misses
and Grayson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stevens thinking.
Grayson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Grayson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Grayson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Grayson's corner calls for a 1-2. Grayson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Stevens drops his hands momentarily and Grayson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Stevens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stevens throws a sloppy head kick
and Grayson counters with a straight right hand.
Stevens has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Stevens takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Grayson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Grayson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Grayson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Grayson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Grayson scores with a hook.
Stevens is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Grayson.
Stevens is breathing heavily.

Grayson lands with a good body shot.
A jab from Grayson finds it's way through Stevens's defenses.
Stevens throws a lazy head kick
and Grayson counters with a stiff right hand.
Grayson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Stevens has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Grayson finds it's way round the side to connect with Stevens's head.
Stevens takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Grayson cracks Stevens with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Stevens is still on wobbly legs! Can Grayson finish him?
Stevens misses with a body kick.
Stevens seems to have recovered his senses.
Stevens misses with the combination.
Nice straight punches there by Grayson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Grayson.

Grayson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stevens on the side of the head.
Grayson lands a right hook to the body.
Grayson tests Stevens's chin there with a solid looking shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Grayson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Grayson punishes Stevens's body with a nice straight punch.
Grayson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stevens can do to turn this around?
Grayson throws a series of punches but Stevens avoids them all with ease.
Sufjan Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Grayson lands a jab to Stevens's midsection.

Grayson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Grayson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stevens backs up against the cage.
Grayson connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Stevens tumbling to the canvas! Grayson pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Stevens was done - good stoppage!
