PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is MyTime. Kevin Hall has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Freddy Fury!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fury scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hall sneaks back into half guard.
Hall tries to get to full guard but Fury has control of the leg.

Hall looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Fury stalling.
Fury's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Fury is working for a submission of some sort.
Fury thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hall to regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fury's guard.
Hall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hall thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fury wants to control but Hall passes easily into half guard.
Hall tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fury knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fury is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hall wants to take a breather but Fury is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fury is defending against the submission attempts here by Hall.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hall wants to stand up but Fury has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hall is breathing heavily.
Hall passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fury!

Hall wants to finish this one by submission but Fury is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hall.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fury can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fury tries to lock up and control but Hall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hall wants to finish this one by submission but Fury is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hall.

Hall has hold of Fury's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fury manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Fury tries to lock up and control but Hall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fury defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hall.
Fury is in all sorts of trouble here.
Fury tries to hold on but Hall pushes him away.
Hall tries to push Fury's head away but Fury is holding on tight.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hall misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Hall will probably get the nod.

Fury feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hall is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fury decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hall, up you get!

Fury is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Fury lands with a punch from half guard.
Fury really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fury uses his free foot to push down on Hall's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hall.

Fury with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Let's hope that Fury has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Kevin Hall has been cut.

and Fury counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fury landing with the ground and pound.
Fury wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddy Fury showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fury stuns Hall with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Fury clinches up with Hall and pushes him back against the cage.
Fury tries to land knees in the clinch but Hall avoids the damage to the body.

Fury wants to sweep but no luck.

Fury is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Fury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hall is really struggling to control Fury but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Fury looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hall is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hall gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hall is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fury defends well.

Hall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fury gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Fury has closed the distance and engaged Hall in a clinch.
Fury tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hall just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hall keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Fury's efforts to push away.
Hall prevents Fury from breaking the clinch.
Hall tries to score a body lock takedown but Fury shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Fury has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hall regains guard immediately.
Fury tries to stand but Hall is controlling from the bottom.
Fury pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hall is keeping the position for now.

Hall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fury doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fury manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Fury has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
