The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suarez swats away the attempt to clinch by Szmidt.
Szmidt wants to clinch up but Suarez keeps it at a distance.
Suarez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Suarez.
Szmidt moves in looking to clinch but Suarez pushes him off.

Rudy Szmidt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Suarez.
Szmidt tries to close the distance and clinch but Suarez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Suarez steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Szmidt. That one must have hurt.
Suarez looks gassed!
Szmidt digs a good body shot into Suarez's ribs.
Szmidt lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Szmidt tries to clinch there but Suarez circles away.

A big head kick from Szmidt and Suarez is sent sprawling to the canvas!

It looks like Ryan Suarez has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Szmidt postures up in Suarez's guard and throws a big left but Suarez blocks it.
Suarez is still in real trouble! Can Szmidt finish him?
Szmidt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Szmidt decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Suarez, up you get!
Suarez seems to have recovered his senses.
Szmidt lands a brutal head kick. Suarez looks out on his feet and Szmidt throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
