PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Utoru Germito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Cababan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cababan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eye of the Tiger. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cababan wants to clinch.

Germito darts in and clinches Cababan up against the cage.
Cababan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Cababan is just content to waste time from the top position. Germito takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cababan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Germito is fending him off so far but Cababan persists. Nope, Germito circles away and we're back to standing.

Germito fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cababan sprawls well initially but Germito persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Germito is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Germito connects with a nice short shot to Cababan's temple.
Cababan is trying to control but can't.

Germito takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Germito wants to take a breather but Cababan is having none of it.
Still in half guard, Germito seems content to control.
Germito will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cababan is desperately trying to improve his position but Germito has a good base and remains in mount.

Cababan tries to improve his position but Germito has taken his back! Germito has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Cababan tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Germito pushes Cababan away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
