Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Chrismer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mockalatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chrismer comes to the cage accompanied by Nine Inch Nails - "The Day The World Went Away". Matt Chrismer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Chrismer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mockalatz!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chrismer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mockalatz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Chrismer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mockalatz's guard.

Mockalatz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Chrismer wanted to stand there but Mockalatz had control of the position.
Mockalatz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chrismer is one step ahead there.
Mockalatz throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Mockalatz throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Chrismer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Chrismer trying to control the position from guard on top but Mockalatz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mockalatz has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Chrismer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mockalatz.

Mockalatz tries to buck Chrismer off but Chrismer is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chrismer looks for a takedown but Mockalatz sprawls well.
A head kick misses from Chrismer.
Mockalatz tries for a takedown but Chrismer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chrismer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chrismer is looking to clinch but Mockalatz is avoiding it.

Mockalatz tries to keep at a distance but Chrismer has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mockalatz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Matt Chrismer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Mockalatz.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chrismer wants to control but Mockalatz is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Mockalatz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Chrismer is trying is best to control the position here.
Chrismer regains full guard. Nicely done.

Mockalatz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chrismer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mockalatz trying to control but Chrismer is working from the bottom.

Mockalatz drops back looking for a leg! Chrismer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chrismer manages to kick Mockalatz off! Mockalatz jumps back into Chrismer's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mockalatz wants to control from the top but Chrismer keeps moving.
Mockalatz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Mockalatz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mockalatz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chrismer is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Chrismer misses with a takedown

and Mockalatz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chrismer's guard now.

Mockalatz drops back looking for a leg! Chrismer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chrismer manages to kick Mockalatz off! Mockalatz jumps back into Chrismer's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chrismer holds on and takes a little breather.

Chrismer uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Chrismer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mockalatz.

Chrismer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mockalatz, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Mockalatz will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chrismer clinches but Mockalatz breaks the clinch
enabling Mockalatz to counter with a crisp jab.

Chrismer clinches up against the cage.
Mockalatz's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Mockalatz tries to land a knee to the head but Chrismer blocks with his arms.

Chrismer manages to break the clinch.
Mockalatz tries a head kick but it misses.
Chrismer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Chrismer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mockalatz but Mockalatz pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Mockalatz counters with a single leg into guard. Chrismer didn't expect that.
Chrismer has a closed guard, preventing Mockalatz from standing up.
Chrismer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mockalatz!
Mockalatz regains half guard.
Mockalatz is breathing heavily.

Chrismer wants to stand but Mockalatz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Mockalatz works his way to full guard. Good work.
Chrismer stopping the sweep attempt from Mockalatz.
Mockalatz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Mockalatz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mockalatz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Chrismer stacks Mockalatz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Chrismer!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mockalatz tries to buck Chrismer off but Chrismer is having none of it.

Chrismer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mockalatz to his feet.
Mockalatz fails with the takedown.

Chrismer moves into the clinch.
Mockalatz landing knees to the body.
Mockalatz with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Chrismer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mockalatz has him pressed against the cage.
Chrismer lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


It looks like Joe Mockalatz has been cut.
Mockalatz tries a knee to the head but Chrismer blocks it.

Mockalatz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chrismer is looking to clinch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mockalatz.
Chrismer stalks Mockalatz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mockalatz's face. Mockalatz staggers backwards, shaken.

Mockalatz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mockalatz showed some decent athleticism there.

Mockalatz trying to mount his opponent but Chrismer defends it.
Mockalatz is looking to stall here but Chrismer recovers full guard.

Mockalatz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chrismer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mockalatz has Chrismer in his guard.
Mockalatz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Chrismer pushes Mockalatz off looking to stand but Mockalatz dives back in and keeps control.

Mockalatz stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Chrismer to get to his feet.

Chrismer tries to lock up and control but Mockalatz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Chrismer wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mockalatz.
Mockalatz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chrismer is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mockalatz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Chrismer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mockalatz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Chrismer tries to clinch

and Mockalatz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chrismer!
Joe Mockalatz has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mockalatz seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Chrismer is holding on tight.

Mockalatz wants to finish this one by submission but Chrismer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mockalatz.
Mockalatz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Chrismer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Chrismer is squirming around, avoiding Mockalatz's attempts to control the action.
Mockalatz throwing strikes here but Chrismer is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Mockalatz mounts Chrismer! Really nice guard pass there!
Chrismer is trying to escape the mount.
Chrismer tries to lock up and control but Mockalatz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mockalatz unloads with some shots from mount but Chrismer bucks and avoids them well.
Mockalatz lands a nice shot to the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mockalatz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Chrismer is now in Mockalatz's guard. A big mistake from Mockalatz there, giving up the dominant position!

Mockalatz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Chrismer's guard.

Mockalatz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chrismer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chrismer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chrismer!

Mockalatz is looking for a sweep.

Chrismer decides to stand back up.
Chrismer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Chrismer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mockalatz tries to free his leg and advance position but Chrismer is retaining full guard.
Mockalatz is looking to work some ground and pound but Chrismer has wrist control.

Mockalatz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mockalatz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chrismer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Chrismer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mockalatz is controlling him.
Mockalatz throws and elbow that misses. Chrismer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mockalatz's guard. Nice move by Chrismer!

Mockalatz has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Chrismer doesn't defend quickly enough and Mockalatz has managed to lock this one up! Can Chrismer escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Mockalatz on a fantastic submission victory.
