The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight stays on the outside here - Couture looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mcmannus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Couture sprawls well. Couture wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mcmannus gets slowly back to his feet.
Mcmannus closes this distance looking for a takedown but Couture circles away.

Couture moves into the clinch.

Couture breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Couture avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mcmannus throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Couture lands a head kick. Mcmannus smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Couture closes the distance and pushes Mcmannus back into the cage.

Couture looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mcmannus pushes Couture off looking to stand but Couture dives back in and keeps control.

Couture gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Couture shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Couture was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Couture can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mcmannus is looking to escape.
Mcmannus tries to buck Couture off but he can't manage it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Couture controlling from mount.
Mcmannus wants to get back to his feet.
Couture takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mcmannus is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Couture stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Mcmannus fails to land with a series of punches.

Mcmannus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Couture avoids it really well and circles away.
