PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shina Aoyki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I stand alone - Godsmack kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Andy Stone enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Shina Aoyki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andy Stone!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Stone misses.
Aoyki thuds his shin into the meat of Stone's side.
Aoyki ducks under a wild hook from Stone.
Aoyki will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Aoyki shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for Aoyki.
Stone checks a low kick from Aoyki.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aoyki finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Aoyki pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stone is out of range and Aoyki settles back down.

Aoyki shoots in and bounces Stone off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Aoyki goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Stone has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Aoyki but great work by Stone.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aoyki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Stone slows the pace down.

Aoyki is not content to let Stone control the position.
Aoyki is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Aoyki's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stone is trying to control. Aoyki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Aoyki is looking for a sweep. Stone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stone content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Stone has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Aoyki works to full guard.
Aoyki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aoyki has his foot on Stone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stone works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stone walks forward, straight into a front kick from Aoyki.
Aoyki defending well as Stone loads up on a big left hand.
Aoyki keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stone.
A swing and a miss from Stone.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Aoyki.

Aoyki motions for Stone to come forward. Aoyki throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Stone throws a series of punches but Aoyki moves out of range.
Stone throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Aoyki sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Aoyki fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Aoyki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stone was covering up waiting for the punch and Aoyki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Aoyki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stone is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Aoyki controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Aoyki is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stone is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stone has escaped and now he's on top!

Stone is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aoyki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Stone tries to move into full mount but can't pass Aoyki's legs.

Aoyki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Aoyki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Stone wants to hold on but Aoyki pushes him away.

Aoyki moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stone has worked his arm free - good work by Stone!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aoyki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stone.

and Stone cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Aoyki swings away with a body shot that misses
and Aoyki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Stone throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aoyki.
Aoyki throws a wild body kick that Stone sees coming a mile off.
Aoyki takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andy Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Aoyki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
