PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Kampmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuelle Velos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kampmann comes to the cage accompanied by Lil Wayne - Knockout ft. Nicki Minaj. Velos is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Never Say Never. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Kampmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manuelle Velos!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velos is looking to clinch.
Velos shoots in looking for a takedown. Kampmann tries to sprawl out of it but Velos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kampmann manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Velos scores with a push kick.
Kampmann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Velos.

Velos gets caught flat footed, as Kampmann shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Velos wants to sweep here but Kampmann controlling him for the moment.

Kampmann drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kampmann jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velos throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Velos pulls Kampmann in close to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kampmann slaps away a takedown attempt from Velos, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Velos throws a combination. Kampmann tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Kampmann closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Velos tries to buck Kampmann off but Kampmann is having none of it.

Kampmann tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kampmann has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kampmann tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kampmann has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Velos is trying to control Kampmann's posture but Kampmann avoids it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Velos counters with a two punch combo.

Velos pushes Kampmann up against the cage in a clinch.
Kampmann takes an elbow to the forehead.

Velos has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kampmann uses from the top position.

Kampmann postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Velos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kampmann, into his guard.
Kampmann is looking to stand up but Velos isn't so interested in that idea.
Velos wants to pass the guard but Kampmann is keeping the position.
Velos passes Kampmann's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Velos wants to stand but Kampmann has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Kampmann wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Manuelle Velos will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A decent looking body kick lands there for Velos.
Velos throws a head kick that Kampmann semi-blocks.
Kampmann with a lazy takedown attempt
and Velos counters with a series of strikes. Kampmann will be more careful next time no doubt.

Velos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Velos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Kampmann is looking to escape.
Velos wants to take a breather but Kampmann is having none of it.
Velos stops Kampmann from getting back to his feet.
Velos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kampmann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Velos is trying to work for a kimura but Kampmann is defending well.
Velos is looking to take a break and control but Kampmann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kampmann is looking to escape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Velos tries to clinch but Kampmann moves out of range.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Velos.
Kampmann shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velos but Velos pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kampmann shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kampmann drops back looking for a leg! Velos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velos manages to kick Kampmann off! Kampmann jumps back into Velos's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kampmann shoots for a takedown but Velos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Kampmann counters with a nice double leg into side control. Velos won't be happy with that.

Kampmann is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Velos has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Velos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kampmann circles away.

Velos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Velos drives through and clinches with Kampmann against the cage.

Velos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Martin Kampmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kampmann shoots for a double leg takedown but Velos sprawls well. He's pushed Kampmann's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Velos is defended easily by Kampmann.

Kampmann can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Velos is looking to escape.

Kampmann swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Velos is now in Kampmann's guard. A big mistake from Kampmann there, giving up the dominant position!
Kampmann is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kampmann pushes Velos off and scrambles back to his feet.
Velos shoots and misses

and Kampmann counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kampmann looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kampmann is looking to take a break and control but Velos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Velos tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Velos is defending against the submission attempts here by Kampmann.
Velos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kampmann's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kampmann's back!

Kampmann trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Velos has his opponent's back but Kampmann is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Velos.
Velos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kampmann swivels and escapes.
Velos fails to land the takedown.

Velos gets caught flat footed, as Kampmann shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Velos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kampmann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kampmann manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Velos keeping moving, preventing Kampmann from controlling successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Martin Kampmann showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kampmann has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
