The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Santana lands a left and a right that send Karelin crashing to the mat, dazed. Santana thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mirosvaldo Karelin has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karelin is looking to clinch.
Karelin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Santana pinned against the cage. Santana gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Karelin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santana but Santana pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mirosvaldo Karelin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santana throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Santana has cracked Karelin with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Santana lands another huge swinging hook and Karelin tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Karelin, before Santana can land any more shots!
