Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Quid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takehiko Takaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quid comes to the cage accompanied by The Beatles - Come Together. Takehiko Takaki will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Quid!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Takehiko Takaki!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takaki tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Quid tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takaki was well out of range. Poor timing from Quid.
Quid has a takedown stuffed.
Takaki throws a body kick that misses.

Quid closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Takaki can't do much from the bottom here.

Quid goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Takaki rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Quid's guard! Nice work there by Takaki!

Quid had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Takaki defends it easily.

Takaki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Quid has a closed guard, preventing Takaki from standing up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Quid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takaki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Takaki wanted to stand there but Quid had control of the position.

Takaki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quid has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Takaki has managed to get both his arms back between Quid's legs - danger averted.
Takaki wants to stand but Quid has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Quid is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Takaki is aware though and is defending well.
Takaki passes into half guard.
Well, if Takaki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Quid gets full guard.
Takaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quid swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Quid throws his legs up looking for a submission but Takaki uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Quid tries to bench press Takaki off him but Takaki keeps the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Takaki connects with a right hand. Quid shakes it off.
Johnny Quid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Some bone on bone action there as Quid checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Johnny Quid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quid shoots for a takedown but Takaki saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Takaki dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quid. That did some damage!
Quid is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Takaki throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Takaki jabs Quid right on the nose. Quid blinks but takes it well.
Takaki is looking to slow Quid down with leg kicks.
Takaki feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Quid's calf.
Takaki throws a leg kick which misses Quid's front leg but catches the back leg as Quid tries to avoid it.
Quid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Good leg kick by Takaki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Quid has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Takaki lands a nice hook to Quid's body. Quid takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Quid stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Takaki.
Takaki throws a leg kick which misses Quid's front leg but catches the back leg as Quid tries to avoid it.

Takaki with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Takehiko Takaki seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Quid will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Quid tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Takaki lands a nice leg kick that just misses Quid's sensitive parts.

Takehiko Takaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A solid leg kick lands there for Takaki.
Takaki scores with a crisp jab that stopped Quid in his tracks.
Quid on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Takaki throws the kick towards the body but Quid avoids it.
A swing and a miss from Quid.
Takaki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Takaki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Takaki throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Takaki fakes the leg kick and cracks Quid in the body.
Quid will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Takaki finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Quid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Takaki is fending him off so far but Quid persists. Nope, Takaki circles away and we're back to standing.

Quid shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takaki as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Takaki moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Takaki scores with a jab to the jaw.
Takaki throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Good leg kick by Takaki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Takaki uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Quid.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Quid checks a leg kick.

Takaki works the jab nicely.

Takaki gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Quid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Takaki dives on top into guard.
Takaki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Quid looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Quid isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Takaki stacks Quid on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Takaki!

Takaki stands up and beckons Quid to his feet.
Quid shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takaki as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Quid. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Quid misses with a few strikes there.
Takaki tries a head kick but it misses.
Takaki lands with a nice body kick.
Takaki displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Quid throws out the jab.
A chopping leg kick lands by Takaki.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Quid.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Takaki lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Quid has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Quid and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Takaki throws a leg kick but Quid sees it coming and checks it nicely.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Quid decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Takaki's guard.
Quid sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Takaki's guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Takaki manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Quid works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Takaki has his hands clasped together around Quid's back. He's all about the action.
Takaki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Takaki makes his way to full guard, as Quid worked for a kimura.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Takaki dives on top into guard.

Takaki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Takaki wants it to stay on the feet.
Quid chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Takaki can pounce on him.
Quid takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takaki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quid!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Quid slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Takehiko Takaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Takaki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
