PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kenyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenyon comes to the cage accompanied by The Illinois Enema Bandit. Gaius Caesar will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Kenyon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaius Caesar!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenyon stuns Caesar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gaius Caesar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Caesar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kenyon as he jumps to the side.
Caesar tries to clinch up but Kenyon circles away and keeps his distance.

Caesar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kenyon to the mat! Kenyon manages to get full guard.
Kenyon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Caesar manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kenyon is looking to work some ground and pound but Caesar has wrist control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Caesar is on top in guard.

Caesar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kenyon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caesar has managed to get both his arms back between Kenyon's legs - danger averted.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kenyon is on top in guard.

Caesar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kenyon's guard.

Caesar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kenyon's waist but Kenyon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Caesar off to one side.

Caesar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kenyon is pushing down on Caesar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Caesar is fighting to maintain full guard but Kenyon has managed to sneak the leg through.

Caesar is trying to stick to Kenyon's back but Kenyon is turning into Caesar. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Caesar's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kenyon.

Kenyon has his foot on Caesar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Caesar works his way back into a safe position though.

Kenyon has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Caesar should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kenyon has tightened it up now! Caesar should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
