Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kev Yama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kev Yama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Jones!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Yama. Yama gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones misses with a takedown
and Yama counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Yama on that attempt.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Yama has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Yama tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Yama lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Yama gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Yama shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jones manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Yama throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Yama looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Yama is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Jones kicks Yama off and gets back to his feet.
Yama tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Yama wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

Jones stands and steps away. Yama gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yama circles away.
Yama tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Yama.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Yama off and has taken his back!

Yama turns into Jones and is now in his guard.

Yama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Yama. Yama gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Yama looking for submissions off his back.
Yama is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jones looks to land a strike but Yama avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Yama trying to control the position.
Jones tries to stand but Yama is controlling from the bottom.
Yama manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.
Yama wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Yama from controlling successfully.
Jones has Yama pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yama is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Yama won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yama seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kev Yama will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Yama misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones counters by clinching up.
Yama is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Yama is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Yama wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.
Yama throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yama is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yama won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Yama passes Jones's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Yama is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it.
Jones is in trouble now - Yama has advanced to mount!
Jones tries to reverse the position but Yama maintains control.
Yama unloading with bombs!

Jones is looking to get to half guard.
Yama trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Yama lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kev Yama overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones is in a horrible position here. Yama smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Yama prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Yama cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Yama swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
