PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez comes to the cage accompanied by God of Hell Fire. Pain is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Step Up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rudy Fernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Pain!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez misses the shot to the body.
Pain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pain tried to score with a low kick but Fernandez checks it.
Fernandez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pain.
Fernandez misses the jab.
Pain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fernandez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fernandez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Fernandez tries to clinch up but Pain circles away and keeps his distance.
Pain misses with a looping left.
No luck for Pain with that takedown attempt.

Fernandez scores with a crisp jab that stopped Pain in his tracks.

Pain takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Pain throws a hook to the side of Fernandez's head but Fernandez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Pain dives in and grabs Fernandez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fernandez pushes down on Pain's head and hops out.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fernandez enables Pain to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fernandez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fernandez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fernandez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pain's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fernandez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pain wants to stand and escape but Fernandez is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Rudy Fernandez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fernandez as he avoids it easily.

Fernandez will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Pain throws a hook but Fernandez blocks it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fernandez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
