Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurizio Marchetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marchetti is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hellbound. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maurizio Marchetti!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marchetti loads up on a big right hand but Smith slips the punch.
Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
It looks like Kevin Smith has been cut.
Marchetti throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smith misses with a looping left.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Marchetti sprawls well.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Marchetti, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Marchetti against the ropes but Marchetti circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marchetti's waist but Marchetti gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marchetti will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Marchetti avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marchetti gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Marchetti jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smith walks away with a smile on his face. Marchetti gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Marchetti throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
Marchetti rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Marchetti paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Marchetti connects with a right hand. Smith shakes it off.
Smith takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Smith is rocked!
Smith throws a series of punches but Marchetti avoids them all with ease.
Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Marchetti will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marchetti scores with a nice right hand.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Smith switches off momentarily and Marchetti cracks him with a monster right hand! Smith topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Marchetti dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Marchetti!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Maurizio Marchetti!
