The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hampton walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jones checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hampton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones wants to clinch up but Hampton keeps it at a distance.
Jones blocks a head kick by Hampton.
Hampton misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

It looks like James Hampton has been cut.

James Hampton's cut is getting worse.
Jones creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hampton's defenses.

Hampton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hampton, pushing him back against the cage.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hampton smiles and moves away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hampton.

Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Hampton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones lands an elbow that stopped Hampton in his tracks for a moment.
